Indie Maverick Beta Preview v1.0
INDIE MAVERICK HOME
Launched 786 days ago

Here at Indie Maverick we recognize that the costs of making films are dropping thanks to new technologies, but there are few avenues for filmmakers to raise their budgets other than hit up family and friends for their $50,000 budget.

Tropfest.com

We thought we would design a site that brought the funds of the world community to these filmmakers to help them get their films made and allow small investors the ability to share in the profits. Films like Clerks and Blair Witch were made for tiny budgets and made huge profits at the box office.

sohoshorts.com

If Indie Maverick can help the next generation of filmmakers realise their films and can make some money for investors then we have succeeded.

When the F.B.I. investigates a vague phone call informing them about a kidnapping occurring at a deserted warehouse, they arrive to discover five dead bodies. The head investigator, calls in Devon Chase and his partner, to assist in determining the events that previously occurred that evening. Upon their arrival they are quickly met with hostility by the other agents, as Chase’s past as a former F.B.I. agent catches up with him.

Before the bodies are removed, Chase discovers that each of them has had a proximity detonator implanted in their necks. If the body is removed from the building it would detonate a bomb hidden somewhere on the premises that could decimate the entire building. The detonators are quickly removed and the coroners cart the bodies away. Chase puffs on a cigarette allowing his mind to calm and placing him in a trance-like state.

In this state he experiences the events in the point of view of one or more of the subjects. During the gruesome ordeal, he discovers that the victims were tortured to reveal the whereabouts of something that could possibly be used as a weapon. The kidnappers wear masks, concealing their identities. One of the victims was a fifteen year-old boy who disappeared during the course of the interrogations. Chase believes that the boy is still alive, hidden somewhere within the warehouse. When he finally finds the boy, he learns that the weapon they had been searching for was nanotechnology, which had been injected into him.

The kidnappers quickly reveal themselves as the F.B.I. agents overseeing the investigation and had manipulated Chase into finding the boy for them. A gunfight proceeds with Chase and his partner as the victors. Just as they believe the crime to be solved, they discover that one of the victims was a traitor and feigned his own death in order to escape. Chase and Silk track him down and exact revenge for the lives of the other victims he betrayed.

Started after the disastrous (at least in my opinion) 2004 election, in 2008/09 we'll be traveling across the country (by "we", I mean me, my wife, our 2 year old daughter and our crew) to find out just what's changed since we started asking people about what this country means to them nearly 4 years ago.

This time, we're digging even deeper, letting no one off with easy answers. The ultimate question is "Why?" Why do people believe as they do? Where do those political beliefs originate? Is any critical thought given to them, or is everyone just shooting from the hip? That's why we're making the film...to get people to think --- really, truly, and deeply --- about the beliefs they hold dear, their origins, and their importance and validity in the war for the soul of a nation.

We intend to film from the fall of 2008 through 2009, to take the country's pulse before, during, and in the aftermath of this election year. Will we end up with something inspirational or are we making a horror film?

Only time will tell.

Public outrage over the assassination of a VIP forces an unpopular government to sanction an execution. A prison governor, beset with crises; career, money & marital, is put in charge. Under the influence of a con man and an eastern-european vamp the governor is suckered into letting the execution become a giant pay-per-view circus that spirals out of control.

"I really liked this......I can't imagine any production company not wanting to make this....Not only is it good - it's cheap!"

Worlds and cultures collide in this dramatic story of hope and understanding.

While working and saving money to go to college (and to pull himself out of his inner-city neighborhood), 17 year old Alex Wright stumbles across a secret that changes his perception of what is truly important and the way that each of us connect to one another.

While out making a weekly delivering run (just one of his many jobs), Alex notices something strange going on with his final delivery of the day. The man there never answers his door, so he (as instructed) leaves the box of food on the porch. Back in his old station wagon (finally getting a chance to eat his lunch), he sees a glimpse of the old man open the door as he grabs the box and takes it inside. Alex, curious, heads back and knocks on the door to introduce himself, yet no one answers (though music can be heard from a side window).

Each time he returns to deliver the food for the next month, the pattern repeats itself, until the delivery orders abruptly stop. Alex finds out that the person who had been paying for the deliveries has stopped sending them in, which concerns Alex as he wonders how the old man will feed himself, if he is okay or just what is going to happen with him.

Alex finds himself going to the house and trying to talk to the old man, but he won't answer the door or even acknowledge Alex. A desperate plea to a spanish speaking acquaintance brings them both back to the house, only to discover the old man's reluctance was tied to the language barrier and his inability to speak english.

Once inside they learn more about the old man, including the secret behind his mysterious benefactor and a startling revelation that forces the three of them to travel together to honor the last wish of a perfect stranger.
