FILMMAKERS FAQ INVESTORS FAQ
1. Why should I raise my budget through Indie Maverick?
Here at Indie Maverick you have final cut, we don’t interfere in any way, you can sell your film wherever you want. All we do is help you get the money to put your vision on the screen. We ask for a simple title card on the film (not much to ask), for a trailer to stream off our site and to be able to offer the film for download, we take 30%, you and the investors get the other 70% of the download profits (although not before any cinema or DVD run, we don’t want to get in the way of you selling it for big bucks).

2. How do I put my film/pitch on Indie Maverick?
1. Register as a filmmaker.

2. Top up your Indie Maverick account through our very secure Paypal system.

3. Upload all relevant information about your film including images, scripts, past work etc and nominate your budget. $25USD will be withdrawn from your Indie Maverick account.

4. Wait for the investments to pour in.

5. Make your masterpiece.

3. Why does Indie maverick only accept films over 60 minutes in length?
Indie Maverick only accepts films 60 mins + as we feel there is a higher possibility of return for our investors. We are great lovers of the shorter format and encourage first time feature filmmakers to use their short films to showcase their talents!

4. Why is the maximum budget for a film $1.5 m?
Our priority at Indie Maverick is to help filmmakers to get their films made. With many investments on the site being $25 we encourage filmmakers to focus on the minimum they feel they would need to ensure the successful completion of their film. If films currently on Indie Maverick with budgets of $1.5m garner the investment required to complete their films, we will assess whether increasing the maximum budget beyond $1.5m may be advantageous to the filmmakers and investors that utilise the site.

5. Do you need to have a finished script to upload a project on Indie Maverick or is a pitch/idea enough?
No, you don't have to have a finished script. If you are David Lynch one sentence about your project may be enough to garner interest and investment! However, we highly recommend that all filmmakers put up as much material as possible to create interest in their nominated project.

6. What should I upload on Indie Maverick to help garner investment?
There is no limit to the amount of supporting materials that you can upload on Indie Maverick to help raise your budget. Scripts, scores, storyboards, synopsis, treatments, proposals, director's statement, previous films, show reels, marketing plans, schedule, reviews of your previous films, sample scenes, CV's and photos of principle cast and crew etc are all relevant materials which will help investors to decide if your film project is worth a few bucks or a few thousand.

7. Can I use video links from a website other than You tube?
No, presently all video links must come from the You Tube website. This means that any videos or films must be uploaded to You Tube before they can be viewed on Indie Maverick. In the future this may be expanded to other websites.

8. Are all projects that are uploaded accepted by Indie Maverick, or is there a form of 'quality control'?
Indie Maverick is a free market and welcomes all projects by filmmakers. However, an assesment will be made whether to keep a film on the site if we feel the project contains offensive material and conflicts with our terms and conditions.

9. If I have already recieved part funding for my film, can I raise the remainder of the budget through Indie Maverick?
Yes, as long as this finance is deposited onto the film through Indie Maverick and there is no third party agreement that contradicts the Indie Maverick terms and conditions. THE WHOLE BUDGET must be raised through Indie Maverick but nothing is stopping you depositing monies already raised onto your film. This may be a good way of not starting off with a zero balance on your film. Just be careful if you have an agreement with a third party exactly what the details of that agreement is. You may want to consult us or a legal advisor regarding this point.

10. How long can I keep my film project on Indie Maverick, is there a time period for which to raise funds?

Yes.

This money will be returned to the films budget under contingency funds to be used as the filmmakers see fit.

No, it is difficult to know which films will go all the way to box office success and which ones won't. However, all filmmakers are responsible for supplying investors with a dvd of the completed film regardless of the level of financial success the film achieves.
